Criteria for: Leakage Detection Equipment, Remote Meter Reading and Leak Warning Devices
Remote Meter Reading and Leak Warning Devices
Remote monitoring and leak warning devices provide a very effective means of identifying water leaks in a supply system not readily accessible or at a remote location.
To be eligible for inclusion on the Water Technology List the equipment must meet the following definition:
A programmable device, which analyses water consumption and identifies abnormal usage trends, providing an early warning of water leaks. The device may also have the facility to cut off the water supply automatically. The device is either connected to a data logger or has the facility to record and store water flow rate, water volume, time and/or pressure data. The device can be interrogated locally and via remote monitoring and consequently communicate the possibility of a leak both locally and remotely.
Manufacturers should apply to Defra with evidence that their products meet these criteria in order to appear on the Water Technology List.
